I have Continental Mountain King II Protection front and rear on my SJ FSR Evo. Rear tyre has started losing side knobs from riding the new trails at Swinley, which are relatively hard with a lot of stone and pebble in the trail surface.
Need a replacement rear and was wondering what to try instead of the MK II on the rear as it seems to struggle with the abuse.
Was thinking of trying a Rubber Queen or Baron on the back or maybe switching to a pair of High Roller II.
I ride reasonably aggressively at Swinley, Surrey Hills and get over to Afan now and again as well.
Opinions welcome.
Try not to skid?
Rear end was stepping out when turning in quickly. More eyebrow raising than pant filling though ๐ฎ
Very knobbly tyre for hard pack. I've just taken mine off the HT because they are too rumbly on the hard trails, and put the fat semi slicks on.
MK2s... had them on a fleet of bikes out on Gran Canaria. even after the first ride i was losing knobs (i'm not talking about the geusts... i mean off the tyre).
got HR2 and have ridden them all last summer and they're holding up fine.
have a look at Bontragers XR3 and XR4. less eyebrow IMO ๐
