I am looking at getting a console either wii or ps3. I would like flash capability for some online games, not to bothered about blu-ray. Has xbox got over the heat problem(s) with RROD. Also a good choice of action, strategy (command & conquer), 1st person shooter and monopoly! Fed up with pc's, blue screen and win xp
wii is more of a kids/family console IMO for a decent range of adult games you want a PS3 or Xbox
wii for girls / kids / gays / gimps
xbox or ps3 for proper games
PS3
(Xbox if your poor and like paying twice to play online)
PS3 got flash for facebook games
...and BBC iPlayer
so the ps3 can use flash player for facebook games - mafia wars...
xbox360 here, I just want to jump on & kill/drive/cause mayhem for an hour or so. I dont play online either. I did try it but it became apparent very quickly that I was crap. 🙂
PS3 is nice, but having played on one I couldnt really see any difference in the graphics. And we're tight-wad pikeys with an old type TV so blueray not really of intrest to us.
Xbox 360 is far superior for online games - just look at which console more people play Modern Warfare 2 on... £30 per year is an excellent price for the service.
Xbox 360 controller is also better. The PS3 Dual Shock is an out-dated design, too small, and the analogue sticks get slippery which isn't what you want when playing FPS's.
If you want to spend much time online or are heavily into your FPS's, definitely go for the 360. If you want Blu-Ray capabilities and the PS3 exclusives then go for PS3. I would say the 360 has had the better exclusive titles so far (Mass Effect 2 is just one example, finally being released on PS3 a year after the 360...).
The RROD problem has been sorted now I think. I had a 360 for about 6 months and it performed fine.
What chris said ^^^ xbox for sure if your going online more, much bigger gaming community, yeah you pay for it but its better.
Ps3 now also has itv player and 4od if that floats your boat
Don't own either, but have played on both a bit. Cant tell much difference between the graphics, but the Xbox seems like the better console with perhaps the better games. Its also a bit cheaper and the online play is better.
The £30 annual fee to play online only really matters if your about 12 years old and dont have a job

Yeah, but you're not going to get a girl back to your place with the promise of a hot session on Call Of Duty are you?
PS3 everyday of the week!!!! Online play has only been a little suspect recently with Black Ops due to technical issues, these have now been corrected and it's fine!! Get one!!!
We've got a Wii and a PS3.
I can't remember the last time I used the Wii.
Get a PS3...you won't regret it...better still get an xBox too just in case.
PS3, more versatile than an Xbox and wii
In a nutshell, the Wii is a different sort of beast to the PS3 and Xbox 360 in that it's something you tend to play with others and most of the games are geared towards this.
There's not a lot to choose between the PS3 and 360 though, although people will try to persuade you otherwise. You tend to just get on with whichever one you've bought.
The stereotypical views are that 360 is better for online play (although I get on with my PS3 fine) and that the PS3 is better as a multi-format hub in your living room (although my guess is that few of them are used in this way). Both are fine machines and will deliver what you've asked for in spades.
You pays your money and makes your choice.
ps3 all the way! free online! im always playing fifa 11 online most nights, i love it, Call of duty online is awesome too!
xbox for gaming (controller is loads better than sony's) and PS3 for internet TV (although this will be available via freeview HD next year), blu-ray, HDD recording (with playTV), & media storage and streaming. I'm considering getting a PS3 for its non-gaming "all-in-one-box" functions. The lack of multiple boxes & the associated wires will keep the wife happy.
The xbox may be cheaper initially, but you do have to pay for online gaming, you have to pay for the wireless dongle, pay for replacement cables if you want to run it through a surround sound system. All that is free with the PS3.
Xbox 360 unless you want a blu-ray player.
If you want play online properly use a PC 8)
Just got an Xbox with the Kinect and its ace. Total hands free gaming. Might only be sports and a few other at the moment (for Kinect) but its cracking after a few drinks with friends (rather than having to hand a controller round).
New Xbox's have wi-fi built in so no need to buy extra dongle, just turn it on and off you go.
And
agree 100% and some games even give you 1 month gold free. The £30 annual fee to play online only really matters if your about 12 years old and dont have a job

New xbox has wireless built in and again a 10 quid HDMI cable is only a problem if you are 12.
I had both a pS3 and a 360.
360 got loads of game time, until it was banished to the loft to concentrate on other things. PS3 was bought six months after getting my 360, was played twice and then sat dusty for a year until I sold it.
I was really excited at the time about getting the ps3, but on playing it, I realised that the 360 did what I wanted.
Now I wish I had more self control and could play games without getting too absorbed in them and wasting hours at a time.
Xbox unless you want a bluray player.
Or which ever the majority of your friends own.
Xbox is so much better online and gets most downloadable content before PS3.
Crikey, this is worse than gears vs singlespeed.
Xbox and ps3 and pcs are all ace.
PS3.
We have a Wii that never gets used, also had an Xbox but sold it because the PS3 was better.
Just get whatever your pockets allow. Oh, and Fallout 3 and Fifa 11 will mean that you never leave the house again. 😉
Most PS3 owners just play FIFA and Need for Speed, don't really play online, and will just tell you "PS3 is better cos it's got Blu-Ray". Just read the above for proof.
Better controller, generally better exclusive games, far superior online service. As a GAMES CONSOLE, the Xbox is better.

Utter rubbish.
PC, PS3 and wii.
For 15 years the PC used to be the only games machine (in our house) worth looking at.
Since getting the PS3, the PC has become a work / networking tool only. I no longer have the time for the sort of games it excels at - flight / military sims, strategy etc, and the games market has all but abandoned the FS sector.
PS3 (or xbox) is perfect for that short blast between rubbish TV. Cant comment on the xbox, because I haven't owned one, but PS3 for us gets uesed for...
GT5 - you won't be doing that on the xbox
BluRay - blown away by Pacific on BD - my early Christmas present
All the normal CoD, kids Lego adventures etc.
Would try 3D, which the PS3 does, but not going to be first in on the 3D telly spend.
Contollers - personal taste surely. xbox one looks big and unwieldy to me.
Oh, and the wii - only ever used by the kids (a lot. Not sure if that's because they like the wii, or because the grown ups are on the PS3...)
PS3 is my choice my 360 sits gathering dust. It has much more to offer and is better to use. Nothing wring with the 360 mind and the 360 is a lot cheaper hence why there's more kids with it playing COD.
Get either of those and you'll have a cracking console but PS3 takes the edge slightly.
I'm on Xbox number 5 now having paid for 2 and I say buy a PS3. If my one dies after the extended warrenty is over I'll be defecting to Sony.
Serious gamers use PCs 😉 better graphics, better sound, faster/smoother gameplay, developers console enteries....
Seriously though, if you want to play blu-rays or surf the internet get a PS3. If you want to use your new games console for playing games on, get an XBOX, for all the reasons above.
