Confused about Boosting a Pro2 hub

[#13535383]

I'm rebuilding the kid's bikes and have managed to confuse myself with hubs.  I've a rear wheel with a 142x12 Hope Pro 2 (not Evo) hub which came off a bike with Boost spacing, so some years ago I bought some Boost adapter kits. When I stripped the bike down I put all the adapters into the tool box like the organised man I clearly am.

I'm not trying to put this wheel on another frame that is also Boost spaced, so off I go to the tool box. I've previously adapted both front and rear so I have a few bits, and now I'm looking at axle spacers and brake rotor spacers and getting confused about what goes where.

Can anyone remember what spacers go where when converting a 142 rear to 148?

To add to confusion, my Hope Pro2 hub is actually 144mm wide end to end...

Depending on which conversion kits you bought you can either boost symmetrically (3mm both sides, 3mm on the brake) or towards the driveside (0mm driveside, 6mm disc side, 6mm on the brake).

I’ve done both and you do end up with a pile of different spacers. If you want to put widths up to check against known spacers happy to check for you

As I remember, Hope didn't do a Pro 2 (none Evo) boost kit but there were generic kits about. I imagine it's one of those you have.

If so, you'll have a spacer that adds 6mm to the non drive side and a 6mm spacer to go behind the rotor with some longer bolts.

Don't do anything to the drive side as you'll struggle to get the mech to work.

Do you remember redishing the wheel? I imagine you'll need to move the rim 3mm across as well.

As for the 144mm space ring, I'd check that everything is seated properly

Fair point ref the Evo vs non-Evo. You can boost a Pro2 but thinking about it you probably have to evo it first

Thanks, all.  I had a think whilst mowing the lawn and realised that I was forgetting that rear boost conversion (142->148) and front boost (100->110) are different so I can identify the pieces I have.  Turns out I put the wrong brake spacer on the rear originally, and the person that sold me the frame I'm building up also used a Boost conversion as there was a spacer stuck to the axle...

I found a 6mm axle spacer and a 3mm brake spacer which did the right thing, and can't be bothered to redish the wheel as it is just my daughter's bimble bike.

Hang on you can convert a Pro2 to Evo? I assumed the changes were quite fundamental.
