What are conditions like in Wyre Forest at the moments.
Also is there still a regular evening ride during the week? ๐Ÿ™‚

Dry, dusty and fast. Fantastic riding at the moment. There are a couple of groups that ride regularly over there, the one i'm in includes the guys mentioned above but there are also some bike radar guys and 'the fast boys'. Most groups meet at the Duke William pub at 7pm and go from there. We usually do Weds night but change it around our guides shift patterns.

Great!
Thanks guys!
Haven't been there for three years! Is there any new/recent changes in the trails that could spell danger for an idiot? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Strato

most of the changes are due to forestry work so some of the usual trails are a bit different in appearance, there is a jump built over a fallen tree on secret garden, there is a ladder bridge halfway down the camber, anklecracker is visually very different but still rideable, the north kinlet side has had a large area felled as you descend to the stream, fun trying to pick your way down over the logs and branches near the fence. when are you over as the fast boys (moss et al) no longer ride from the duke on a weds, think they meet at button oak now. Mick Arms is away for the next 2 weeks too.

Yeah some idiot is covering some of the trails with logs etc, I will be walking the dog over there tomorrow, so we will clear some of it away...

Conditions are great at the moment.

Some of us ride Weds or Thurs evening, but it does vary from week to week, check out bikeradar.

Edit: garlic and jedi are apparently covered in felled logs - haven't ridden these recently but I think they are still there. One of the guys is going in to do some clearance at some point so you might be ok.

Garlic is cleared of these "big up to the clent duffers massiv'", Jedi was not logged on Sunday.

Someone is going to an awful lot of trouble dragging 'logs' across trails all over the forest, but mostly of a size you can roll over anyway - some people just have nowt better to do, I s'pose. Anyway, it's all riding beautifully at the moment. Enjoy!

log dragging could be a new policy, as experienced here http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/bikes-not-welcome-in-the-wyre-forest

@votchy - thanks very much. I understand most of that.
I'll be there next week, God willing. Might meet some of you!

So, roughly, is it Wednesday evening at the Duke 7 ish for Conviviality, or Thursday evening 7 ish at Button Oak for fast pain?

Thanks again guys. I'm really lookin forward to goin'.

I think a few of us are meeting around 7pm this Wednesday.

Pace will be slow/steady (due to some beginner riders).

Cheers

Did my first Singlespeed ride around the Wyre last night and had an immensely enjoyable 20 mile ride.

The trails are currently riding as well as i've ever seen them in the 3 years i've been riding there.

Enjoy it while it lasts......
