Anybody know if Hebden is rideable don't like icy paths ! plan was to start at Todmorden on the Mary Townley and drop down to Hebden over to hardcastle crags and back round
It's been fine for most of the week. Depends which trails you're looking at. Recently I've ridden - Chipps Birthday (Fine), Pecket Well (Fine), Blue Pig (Fine), Rodwell upper (hmmm not ideal), Ripper Dipper (snowy, probably frozen good now), Benjis (iced, possibly still).
Most of the pack horse trails up by the pike and towards Tod are icy, but grand - the grip is there between the slip ๐
Suggestion would be to stay on the sunny side - PW side.
Is the sunny side Worsthorne sorry not local, I do one form there which goes out towards the long causeway back round up widdop and then down gorple road
I've ridden pretty much everything round Tod in the last week and the only dodgy bit was the PBW Down to the Shepherds Rest from Gaddings which was a river of sheet ice and completely unrideable/unwalkable without studded tyres/crampons (although you could go round it). Up on the tops around Stoodley is mostly a mix of patchy soft snow and compacted ice. It's mostly rideable apart from a few bits. Anything below the tops and not north facing will be thawing rapidly in the warmer temps.
Whirlaw and Rodwell are very boggy if not frozen, which they won't be unless you head out at 7am.
Wish I knew which trails (apart from the obvious ones) match the names in Greg's post!
Cheers for this- will have a nosey Sunday ๐
