Fantastic wee trail centre, and it's getting better all the time IMO. I've been up a few times now, and every time there are more and more signs of trail building and expansion in evidence, which is pretty much at odds with the vast majority of centres in Scotland, great to see. Some really good, steep techy stuff, to the blue descent at the end that is miles of smiles. Really good cafe too.

Just a wee mention really, kudos to the folks behind the place, and a recommendation for any of you southerners heading north, well, well worth a wee 20 minute detour.

Hell yeah. Were you there yesterday? We were in the afternoon. A Phantom, Stooge and an FF29.

It's a great place, and you are right about the development, we were last there in March or April and the extra sections opened since then are fantastic.

Weird lack of signage for the 'old' lower red and black bits though.

We rode some nice new Glendevon trails in the morning, then went to Comrie after. A great way to split the day. Morning was supposed to be Ben Vorlich, but we aren't that stupid. It wasn't really munro weather...

Aye, we spoke to you about the new bit at the top, just before the red/black split. The stooge was getting some attention from the bearded members of our group!.

Don't tell everybody

Otherwise they'll farm out the catering , stick an alpine bikes in
and charge £5 to park

Seriously tho, great vibe, close for me, natural trails
And some great food at the cafe

Proper old school feel

Must get up there soon. My kids had a day there in summer hols MTB activity camp, along with days at Carron Valley, Whitelee and Glentress and they thought Comrie was the best 🙂

Haven't ridden there for a while but the red and black were ace- quite short but action packed. Nice wee skills loop too. Kind of makes you realise just how much of the average trail centre is basically just dead trail with nothing really happening- there's very little of that at comrie. Mint basically.

Trails are good but the service at the cafe was terrible. It took them nearly an hour to serve food to 8 people (it would have been 10 but the couple after us in the queue left after 45 minutes or so demanding their money back) with 3 members of staff working. Given that the food was soup, cake or sarnies that is a pretty poor effort. The soup and cake were good although the sarnies were rubbish and overall the food was very bad value for money. Speaking to others who have been there this isn't exactly an uncommon experience.

I'd go back for the riding but I'd take my own food next time.

The stooge always attracts beards, in fact even the owner was clean shaven before purchase.

We found the cafe ace both times, but then again there were only three of us, and we know how to charm the ladies*

My beard grew several microns upon seeing it. I liked the cafe, great bacon bap and the soup was good too.

I can't wait to go back with the kids to try the new stuff. Really lovely place for a camping trip and only ever had good experiences at the cafe.

Are the trails quite well marked or would I be better to get a trail map?

Is the cafe at the trailhead?

Or I could just go and look at the website like everyone else does.

They're quite well marked and its not a very large area so you can't really get lost and the cafe is overlooking the car parking area.

Comrie is great. A fab welcome. A lovely spot. Ace wee trails.

It however is NOT your average trail centre (hurrah!). The trails are rough, ready and with penalty for failure that seems to be higher than most trail centres. It seems on average under-graded as a result.

It is mega family friendly and relaxed. Every time we go there is more work done. Drop a good few quid in the trail fairy box.

Long may it last.

The Cafe is open seasonally only, so if you want to check out the bacon baps and awesome brownies, this is your chance this weekend (shuts on the 26th October). The shop will continue to sell Hot Drinks and Cakes all year round.
There is work ongoing on the trails all winter, still a bit of the Red trail to be completed and then some reworking on what used to be the old blue, and is now the Red to the bottom. Work should be totally complete for now by the spring. Work is ongoing to enable the cafe to be a year round concern too - watch this space!
