How long is it realistic to commute on a brompton. Is 6-7 km ok? Is 11 km doable? Or should I keep my fixie???

the longer you're on the bike for, the longer people will laugh at you

Of course it's doable, as long as you are comfortable enough, it's not far.

oh,have a look at the other brompton thread for some mods you can do.
cranks,handlebar,brakes,a lot can be changed.most for not very much.
that was a bit more helpful.

When I did a charidee ride across Peru a few years ago an old geezer did it on a Brompton. 400km in 6 days!

So I'd say 11km is very doable

11 km's fine,expect abuse I've had loads over the years... might not be due to the bike....

best I've had was at the local train station where a spotty teen with his equally spotty girlfriend shouted 'har har you've got a funny looking little bike........'

I responded 'so have you' he was too thick to understand.... but his girlfiend got it straight away... as did all the other train passengers......

if you've not bought a Brompton yet it's worth considering buying a single speed version and getting the 8speed hub gear kit from Kinetic's

11km? What's even better with doing it on a brompton is that it stays inside, all nice and warm and dry all day, before the journey home.

Brompton = Work of Satan.

That is all.

(Toddles off to inappropriately racially insult aP)

What's 11km in Real Money?

I rode the Dunwich Dynamo on mine in a pretty impressive time. Great bike. I had plenty of "Cool bike" comments from kids, and they always wanted to see it fold. 11km will be no trouble. Take it easy unless you are showering at the other end.
