Line of coke? Probably last long enough to get you home, may aid weight loss too.

As has been said, anything under 90 minutes or say twenty miles, you don't need to eat anything, you're just kidding yurself if you say you do.

Most regular cyclists can quite happily ride a lot further than that without food too.

nuts. Gert big handful of almonds and hazelnuts sorts me out a treat.

Almonds and hazelnuts are more fat & protein than carbs, and any carbs that are there are slow release so not much use for a 5.5 miles commute.

Yes, but psycologicaly it might help? And 11 miles would be ~700calories posibly? Over a week thats 3500cal, or a lb of fat.

I find that if/when I commute a lot I tend to need the extra food/sleep by Friday.

10 miles in the morning 13 in the evening. 5 days a week.

Diet/food intake hasn't really changed that much. I did however find that work have a huge stash of buiscuits for visitors, which is "somehow" getting reduced...

One thing to note though is that every Tuesday and Thursday I have a bowl of porridge before I leave work, that gives me just enough fuel for the club night runs. At which point when I return i'll eat tea.

No way. Maybe 700 calories/hour if you're going flat out, but if you're going flat out on a commute you'll likely be doing more than 11mph.

I certainly find I need more sleep than when driving/not riding as far.

Normal breakfast before cycling to work, then a bit of fruit when I get there. Nothing to eat before I leave to cycle home, just a drink of water. 9 miles each way.

17 hilly miles (twice a week) - Hi5 Zero tabs with caffeine.
No enrgy in it, but a caffeine boost = weight loss (if I didn't get home and graze for 4 hours)

oh my god. i hit the wall for the first time in ages coming home last night. I've been riding quite hard into work as i've been getting in late. Also rode very hard the night before at ashton court (always being challenged by mates)

Had nothing in the legs on the way to and from work. Got in the door and i started shaking and dreaming about food.. I then proceeded to eat a raw pack of jelly, a recovery drink, 4 pieces of malt loaf, a mince pie, 2 biscuits, 3 slices of cheddar, some chorizo and then heated up a curry.

i then lay down for 40 mins and was fine. I then had to ride 8 miles to my clubs weekly turbo session where we did v02max intervals!
