I am stuck! considering Focus AX2 or Whyte Charing Cross bikes.

Please help me decide?

Is it worth waiting for the early release of the Focus 2013 cross bikes, or is the Whyte just better?

I'm 6ft, so anyone got any fitting tips because apparently the Whyte can be tricky to fit?

Going to be doing a 27mile each way commute with about 300m height gain? maybe a little more?

Cheers in advance

Try and find one of each and see which is most comfy. No one can advise you on which is the 'better' fit, as they're not you.

All valid points but no dealers near me have stock of either bike, hence my question...

Also hoping some kind owners of either had opinions/ views on their bikes

Andy

Can't Hansfords get you test bikes from Whyte and Focus?
IIRC the Whyte has a really slack head angle.
They've got a demo Kinesis Tripster coming in soon so that's definitely worth a spin.

Holy **** I don't even want to think about how dead I would be if I had to the wet chalk of the sdw on 25mm tyres and road cleats.

So dead.

So ludicrously dead.

In the dry it sounds fun, I guess.

I would buy a rigid 29er and run two sets of wheels imo.

It was just a turn of phrase used for hyperbolic effect.

I slip everywhere on 2.35 maxxis advantages.

cx are the same but not generally any worse.

You do have to be a bit more careful putting power down on the uphills.

Although managing 3 complete revolutions of wheelspin before gently falling off to one side can be fun.
