Hi all,
I'm new on the forum. I was toying with the idea of finally getting myself a bike - last one I bought was 20 years ago - mostly for commute, light trails and family riding.
I was very tempted by the Commencal El Camino 2014 (650b):
found one review online for an older version and seemed good fun, while all the pictures look pretty sweet.
I was only a bit concerned with the possibility of replacing the fork in the future:
almost everything I found online is tapered (except a Maintou) and the steerer tube on the ElCamino is straight 1-1/8.
Commencal suggested using an adapter with an external bottom cup to fit a tapered fork
Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about it (bike and fork issue)?
I’d love to get a frame and build it up myself, but I know at present that would take me forever, and wouldn’t be very family-friendly 😛 so likely not an option...
Thanks for any feedback.
Cheers!
