Was looking at some new wheels and thought about matching my nipples to the same colour of hubs.

bit of bling coolness or naff old pants?

Naff. Not because of colour but because th coloured ones are aluminium.

Black FTW. Coloured can look a bit much. Alu not a huge issue if it's a lightweight build and you can accept their limitations (they won't last forever if you neglect them). Brass nips can be had in black though.

I built some wheels in 1995 that had red Hope hubs, DT Revolution spokes, and red/silver/blue alternating alloy nipples, on Mavic 217 rims.

They were the business. In 1995.
