Has anyone tried to colour match a bike frame? I have a 09 Spesh FSR XC comp and managed to damange that paint a bit on the lower tube from it rubbing on my bike rack. By the time I ralised that this was happening it was too late.

I can paint and know the process for touching up scratchs but have only ever done this on a car with a paint code that a shop can match. Can I take my frame into a paint shop, get them to mix up a few cans of spray paint that will match my frame, or will it end up a mess.

Habve now learned my lesson and fitted some foam to the offending are of thje carrier and will add copter tape to fram, but would like to patch the paint up before doing this.

Had thought of that but it is very close to the M4 frame sticker and think it would look silly. I'm going to give matt black a try and see how it looks.

this is an easy one.take you bike to a car paint supplier(yelow pages)they have a thing called a spectrum analiser.they point it at your bike(little machine)that will give you a(RAL)number and hey presto.even motor world can mix that for you.if that fails go to a good painting and decorating supplier they also use s/analisers..there you go..rob..
