In summer it's easy. Wear ss jersey, drink plenty. In winter I always find it a bit harder. Cross is ok as its short races so no need to eat or drink and you can cope with being a bit hot or cold as its soon over.
Got a longer race coming up and I'm looking for tips.
Wearing jackets makes it harder to get to jersey pockets and gels/food.
Wearing gloves just makes everything that little bit harder to do
Balancing clothing as if I'm out for 3 hours in freezing conditions I cant just "get on with it" like I can in a 1hour cross race so do you carry a light weight jacket or extra layers or do you start warm and then remove them?
So those of you who do longer races do you have any pearls of wisdom to make things easier on the above and anything else related.
Gilet, armwarmers and kneewarmers make life easier as can be unzipped, dumped or rolled down.
Start cold as you'll soon warm up.
Have a pit bitch who can take a big warm coat from you seconds before the start.
