[#9351024]

Well I have a recently built a 26" el Guapo and I'd like to put a coil shock on it, had a quick trawl of the net and the shock dims are 8.5 x 2.5.

But cannot see what type model to get, anyone got any recommendations, experience of a coil on a Titus el Guapo 26" ?

Are the coil versions any better than the air sprung version for reliability?

Cane creek double barrel inline coil ?

Do they not have the best reliability? They do look good, for a shock that is.

So in metric the shock should be 22cm x 6.35cm ?

Does it have to be the inline version ?

Will the 2014 Cane Creek Double Barrel 216x63 version fit ok ?

Cheeky hijack

I have a 216 x 63 coil for sale with 400lb spring. Top of range XFusion vector hlr with iPf volume / pressure adjust. I'm 14.5 stone - if you're lighter then a new steel coil isn't Too expensive

not a clue but I doubt you'd need the extra oil the piggy back gives you. I'm assuming the 2014 unit is going really cheap, I'd be buying new anyway for warranty and peace of mind.

Well I have a cane creek double barrel coil 216 x 63 !!

The el Guapo has the original fox air shock fitted currently.

My question is what do I need to fit the CCDB to the el G ?

Or can I just use the fittings from the fox air shock ?

Looking to the STW experts for some advice on this...

depends on the hardware diameter

Current fox bushings are 15mm with a 12.5 mm ID for the mount to go in. Cane creek can have odd sizes. If the ID of the bushing is 12.5 then you can use the same mounts as modern fox/RS units but if they are different you'll have to use CC norglide mounts. It's probable that you have the 14.7mm thick eyelet bore on the coil and will need the norglide mount.

A search online reveals either M8 x 22.2mm

Or from Titus:

Year, Bike, Eye to eye, Stroke, Front spacing, Rear spacing, Tune
2007-2013, El Guapo, 216mm, 63mm, 21.8mm, 21.8, MM3

So if i read this right, I need the cane creek fitting for the spec above ?

Kind of like this one at CRC ? 21.8 at 8mm ?

the hole you slide the hardware into on the shock. fox, CC inline series and RS is 12.5mm, CC DB units have odd sizes so you need to use their norglide units. Does the shock have bushing installed? was it new?

Shock second hand from a STWer, TBH I haven't looked that closely at the fittings, but I suspect no bushings
