We stayed here a couple of years ago.

Fantastic accommodation and only a 6 mile drive/bike approx up to Coed-Y-Brenin.
You can also cycle out of the door onto the Barmouth Estuary track and do a loop of Pont Scethin. ๐Ÿ˜€

I like this place, been going there for 20 odd years. The coach house being my fave.

The George, on the Mawddach estuary alongside the toll bridge is nice, good food & reasonable prices. The Indian in Dolgellau is a bit 80's, a bit lacking in the brown beer, but still not bad, and The Last Inn opposite the railway bridge in Barmouth is highly recommended if you don't mind driving a bit further.

Been going to Bikers Retreat for over 10 years. Thoroughly recommended. For an Indian, short walk into town (Dolgellau) to sample the 'Lemon Tree' Experience

Dafydd and Sian will look after you.
Dafydd might even show you the trails.

Almost.

I think I was 7 and my brother 5 when we first rode the old red bull run/mbr trail.

Dafydd and Sian will look after you.

+1

Thems were the days when they ran the cafe.

Llys Edowain in Trawsfynydd is a decent hostel for not a great deal of cash.
There's a hotel round the corner with an OK (if a bit local) bar that does pub food, or you could drive to Dolgellau where there's an Indian restaurant.

CyB is a 10 min (if that) drive away.

Have to say that the food at the George III is NOT good, it used to be a few years back but now it's poor at best. Unless you can afford this

you will be struggling for decent pub food.

We've stayed at a few places, but the favourite by a mile is:
http://www.ty-serenbandb.co.uk
The place itself is clean, with a great breakie and secure bike storage.
What we really love is being in town, the curry is nice enough, but there's a great bistro as well.
After Oxfordshire beer prices we were astounded by the (low) price of beer in the local hotel.
Then we found the Star Inn, which before we entered we renamed the Stab Inn (it's not stabby at all, as it happens).
We then realised the hotel were fleecing us, at the Stab we could get four pints for a tenner, FOUR! Great , obscure music on the duke box , and locals who seemed genuinely chuffed to have a session with some English blokes, really friendly.

Trawsfynydd Holiday Village is just 2 miles from Coed y Brenin.
We have a number of 2 and 3 bedroom log cabins sleeping up to 8 people and a bunkhouse sleeping 10-20 people, so there should be something big enough for your group no matter how many people you are. There is a pub serving food 5 minutes walk from the cabins (directly opposite the bunkhouse) and you can cycle down to Coed y Brenin avoiding the main road by following the cycle route 82 from the village.
Find out more logcabinswales.co.uk or call 01766 540219

We've stayed at the Holiday Village a few times (and will again). The pub's got good brown beer, although the food is fairly standard pub fayre. Good atmosphere at weekends, though. Recommended.

Good places to stay = holiday village, Cae Gwyn Farm (B&B, camping and camping barn) and Tyn-Y-Groes.

All within a short ride of the trails. Never done Old Skool before but that was kinda on our radar for this year.

Always stayed in the bunk house or the log cabins at logcabinswales.co.uk

If we are going as a group of more than 10 then we book the bunk house, it's a 10 second walk to the pub and great for a group, otherwise we book 1/2 log cabins.

Booking has always been straight forward.
