I'm wondering what the best MTB route is for this. There are multiple routes available of course - has anyone done it in both directions, as a loop, to save car faff either end? If I wanted to do that what route should I take - presumably there is an optimum direction to ride each segment so some thought should go into which way out/back?
We recently rode coast to coast to coast goign out on the C2C route and back on the Reivers Route - but we did it on tandems, on-road. Tandems are buggers to transport so we decided on doing it as a loop and started at Workington, partly because it's closer and partly because most people agree that C2C is better done West to East, and Reivers better East to West.
I'm less familiar with the MTB off road routes, sorry
Mcmoonter and I did Tim Woodcock's route West to East earlier this year. 220 miles and 7000m of climbing. We took four and a bit tough days bikepacking. Getting to/from the ends via train is pretty easy. Easier than turning round and doing it all again :O
