looking for some new summer kit but can't believe how pricey things have gone £95 for shorts and £55 for a top , I wouldn't pay that for best clothes , is it that cyclists just take it for granted that that's what you have to pay

Don't then, look for a better value brand. Plenty out there.

Altura
Craft
Optimum
Plenty of places now have own brand - DHB/Wiggle

Try decathlon, generally pretty good vfm for bike clothing.

Shop in the sales and don't be picky about colour.

Just buy black! There's always something cheap in black.

Just bought a new jersey for road riding in - £20 from on-one/planet X, still riding in my shorts from Funkier - £18 (chain reaction) which have been good for the last 1000miles.

Off road, I wear the same shorts with some grotty old shorts over the top, t-shirt wise, hi-gear regulate t-shirt from go out doors (£6). If it's windier, then I have a Montane featherlite (£25) and a thermal from M&S (£15).

That's all of my kit for less than the price of the shorts you're looking at.

Last year's best clothes win. Just don't worry too much about the colour.

A proud owner of some rather green Fox shorts.

I'm liking madison kit these days, strong, well finished and fairly priced.
