Hi all
I'm buying a load of new kit on the cycle to work scheme as a lot of mine has worn out. I currently have some Humvee baggy shorts, a couple of jerseys and a basic Altura waterproof.
So I need some new baggy shorts, a quality MTB waterproof jacket and maybe trousers too. I can't wear 3/4 length and I'll need about a 38" waist.

So what is the nice stuff nowadays? I'd prefer durability over light weight. I haven't bought anything for a few years and haven't kept up to the latest gear.

I'd also like a merino jersey - any plain, regular fit recommendations?

Not soo sure about jackets because I'm too tight to buy nice ones due to the fear of crashing and ripping them, so I tend to buy cheaper stuff.

I like Sombrio and Fox shorts - they seem well made and look nice. The Sombrio ones tend to be a thinnish cut so don't flap about which and teh Fox DH type shorts tend be to long so work well with knee pads and are my default choice in the winter because they're a bit longer. Da Kine stuff seems nice too - I've just bought a jersey and like it. Some of the One Industries stuff looks nice too and is on my purchase list for next week.

I have also just discovered Scott clothing through Start Cycles where last season stuff is heavily discounted and its really, really good quality. At full RRP its quite expensive but it seems well made and does its job.

I assume that a lot will depend on the shop you get it from and what they stock.

Should be able to do most makes as they are loads of shops round here I can choose from. Going to try some Trek/Bontrager stuff as heard good reports.
