I'm after a new chain lube to use on my summer road bike, for me Purple Extreme is the pinnacle of chain lube technology, long lasting and not messy, it is however impossible to find at the moment in the UK.

So what's the next best thing, and nothing wax based, i have been using Squirt but i can't stand the waxy build up and deposits.

Thanks.

I have one and a half bottles of PE in my garage so I'm hoping it's back in stock before I run out (though that'll likely be the end of the year).

Sort of curious myself, more for long distance rides when you want to top up overnight. Is there a Teflon or similar dry lube that isn't water based and therefore dries quickly?

You could maybe look at Fenwick's Professional/Stealth? It requires 'precision' application the night before, and I think benefits from a couple of applications before it works best, but I quite liked it. I think I still prefer Squirt on my good road bike just because the chain looks a bit cleaner, the Fenwick's still looks a sort of dirty grey. It's somewhere between a dry and a wet lube I would say. I'll use the Fenwick's on the gravel bike I think

Started using the Peatys link lube - seems pretty similar to Purple Extreme - smells lovely and minty too 😁

My lube of choice has gone from RNR blue to Purple Extreme to Peatys, with a few mis-steps along the way.

How does peaty's hold up in the wet? And can you buy a bigger bottle of it?
Currently on R&R blue, but it's not as good as the old recipie so curious about trying something else.

Juice Lubes, Viking Juice. Just as good as PE IMO.

I use Chain-L on my road and gravel bike. Does very well in the wet.
