So new very expensive carbon road bike has arrived with a black matt paint job, all hidden cables and DI2 means no need for a full protection kit

All i need is something to protect the chainstay from any potential chainslap or the chain hitting it when the wheel is removed for roadside punctures etc.. (i know if i dont protect it something will happen straight away!)

My Google fu is failing me and im struguling to find a clear matt finish chainstay protector only for around £10

Checked Invisframe and Ride Wrap's websites and they dont do chain stay protectors, only full or partial kits

Doesn't sound very aero

Gloss is still easy to find. Nipping into your local Halfords might not be a bad idea

Nowt wrong with using an old inner tube on a cheapish mtb but on a super expensive road bike id rather it not look shite!

Plenty of clear gloss ones around but i need a clear matt finish one

I've just used some fairly cheap tape from Paragon Tapes off ebay for areas where luggage and so on might rub. Seems fairly effective but perhaps a double wrap for the chainstay if you can get it on neatly. And some along the cranks to keep them unscuffed.

I’ve used the clear stuff from these guys to do the lads last, matte grey, frame. Seems to be decent quality and they do matte colours/metalics too.
