Got some Genuine Oakley lenses in my Fakelys, and have just come back off a ride and they are wet and mud splattered.

Any advice on whats best to do to clean them as I dont just want to wipe them and scratch the lenses.

Thought about running them under the tap and just letting them dry.

Any Advice please ?

Just wash them with water and dry them with whatever's lying around - kitchen roll, tea towel, shirt tail

BTW - you're over thinking this

rinse with fresh water and swipe with a soft cloth ideally the lens bag oakley lenses come in. Please avoid kitchen roll not as smooth as it looks and oakley lenses scratch really easily

DON'T USE HOT WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I learned that the hard way. Old Eye Jackets now with delaminates lenses. Can't get replacements.

I use hot water and washing up liquid, then buff with a soft microfibre cloth (or just tissues if I don't have a cloth to hand).

Have you contacted Oakley UK for an warranty / out of warranty replacement, they are normally really good for this.

Warm not hot soapy water, and a lint free cloth of some form, teatowels and tissues over time WILL scratch them

Fair do's. Mine are only 4 years old, so it might be a long-term issue.

I've tried, but no longer available. A local optician said he can order some larger Oakley lenses and re-cut them to fit. Quoted £90. Can't see the point. Not much different to a new pair that will be supported by warranty for at least a few years.

FWIW I have used the warranty replacement before. The frames are replacements anyway. Could end up like Triggers Broom!
