Any good tips and methods for getting these clean inside as part of a service?

I use the long bottle brush and degreaser and then dry out with rag on wooden dowel ๐Ÿ™‚

you could fit the hamster on an electric drill if you're against manual labour.

and then drop/force in a ferret to 'clean' out the hamster, remembering to hang on to its tail. Once the red stuff has stopped seeping out the bottom pull said ferret out by the tail ๐Ÿ™‚ - job done

But don't use anything that will cause the seals to swell (assuming you leave them in).

I just rinse 'em out with a little fork oil.
