Slowly building up a classic (i.e. 27.2" seat tube) Soul.
Received wisdom (i.e. what I read on CRC) is that for a 27.2" frame, the OD for a clamp is 28.6". That's backed up by the Cotic page on the classic Soul.
Got a 28.6" clamp. Doesn't fit.
Duff clamp? me being a numpty? something else?
It says the f/mech size is 28.6mm, not the seat clamp.
29.8/30mm would be my guess. Easiest to jut measure it though.
Yes, but a straight seat tube I would have assumed that the OD of the tube is the same down at the mech end as it is at the seat post end? 😕

It's not a straight tube though is it! Just look at it or measure it, it'll be tapered. 28.6mm seat clamps with a 27.2mm seat post is a pretty lightweight tube, I don't think strong enough for an MTB that runs alot of exposed seatpost.

Ta!
mk1 soul here, 30mm clamp
Yup, my custard is 30.
Don't use a hope clamp is my advice, could never stop mine slipping on my MK1 Soul.
Salsa fliplock was ace.
Hey..less of the 'classic' if you don't mind, that's my main bike

Mine too, shortly! Sorry, only trying to distinguish it from the dropper-friendly and latterly tapered headtube frames (oh, and start establishing it as a niche retro find coveted by hipsters in years to come 😀 )

Great advice, thanks - was about to buy one!
30.0mm as others have said. I have a Hope qr clamp on mine and did slip at first but I tweaked up the barrel nut until tight then the lever and have never had a problem since.
