Been building a mountain bike for swmbo's daughter and I got Clarks brake/gear cables in pink for the bike to match the tires and pedals and grips.
However Clarks state that they are not compatible for sis units !!!!
Is this where the brake and gear unit is incorporated as one ?
And why are they not compatible ?
Everything looks the same as the old cables (baffled and thoughtful)
I take it that SIS refers to any indexed gears. I use Clarks gear cables like these in my XTR shifters fine. Can't see a reason why rapid fire, dual controls, thumb thifters etc. can't all work with the same cables.
They should work fine as i had the gear cables in Blue on a Kona Coiler (6" Travel). The reason why they say that is that the cable outer are very stiff to the point that they could snap the outer.
I'd be wary if I was you. I put some braided Clark's cables on 'cos they matched my brake hoses. The gear indexing was going out after every ride, thought I'd just step them up wrong but it turned out the outers were twisting out and getting longer.
Scrapped them and went back to Shimano and my gears have been fine since.
