[Closed] Clarks anti-rust or ptfe coated chains? Gimmick or not?

I'm after a cheapish 8 speed chain for my commuter bike. Unfortunately I don't give my work bike quite the tlc it deserves, so was wondering if the anti-rust (£10) or garishly coloured PTFE coated (£14) Clarks chains from CRC are more resilient to neglect/general wear & tear?

Anyone tried them?

I use a whipperman anti rust (SS) chain on my 456, been there 2.5 years and I have only oiled it because I thought I should, no rust is visible yet, but I've only cleaned it twice.

I reckon it works, but it's heavy.

I had some a while ago where the outerplates were coated in blue PTFE, the blue stuff came off straight away and they looked a right dogs dinner, then rusted, then wore out alarmingly quickly.

They may have improved since. These were going cheap.

You'll only get a rusty chain if you neglect it
Keep it lubed and it'll stay rust free, no need for any fancy coatings

Thanks for pointing out the bleeding obvious Uplink, guess you didn't bother reading my original post...
🙄
Thanks ADH/Sacades. Looks like the PTFE one could be a waste of time, I assumed as much. Might give the anti-rust a go as it's only a tenner.

Al, people worry about the weight of everything, otherwise how do you explain the existence of Ti bolts?

Indeed, they aren't even available in red!

I don't care about the weight of the chain, it's on a 32lb hardtail which is set up for not having to be looked after - but it was noticable in comparision to a regular chain.
