I need a replacement for a rather worn Maxxis Chronicle on the rear end of my Krampus but they don't seem to be available any more.
Does anyone know of a retailer with a stash of them for sale?
Alternatively, what's the nearest equivalent 29 x 3" rear tyre du-jour?
I faced the same issue recently, and the Vittoria Bomboloni 29x3 was purchased. Haven't mounted it yet, but seems quite similar. nice and cheap, and in stock too. It was a thread on here recently that directed me towards them.

Just out of interest, what are you running on the front?
I've got a Minion DHF and it grips like a goodun so have been considering a 29x3 DHR but they may be a bit draggy....although the grip will almost certainly be excellent
Maxxis have definitely stopped making them. Real shame as liked them a lot on my Singular Rooster. I went to Minions front and back in the winter but they were really lardy (though silly amounts of grip).
I’ve put Teravail Coronado’s on it now. Only 2.8”s but still good volume, as fast rolling as the Chronicles and lighter too.
I've got a not very used pair (didn't really get on with them) - let me know if you want them and I'm sure we can come to a suitable arrangement!
DHF front here too. Hard to fault it really.
DHR on the back is slow in 2.5, its murderous in 3". the noise is almost as bad as a 4.8" surly Lou, but it is a good gripper on mixed terrain for sure.
Mostly using the HT for touring, so the faster rolling tires hold great appeal now.

I bought a pair of Bomboloni tyres for a current build.
Nice, light, not 3'' though.
They may stretch a little but I measure them being 2.8'' on 50mm rims.
