I recently installed a 1-1/8" King Griplock headset into a faced & reamed steel frame. However the Griplock assmebly has a gap of about 2mm between it and top cup. The top cap bolt is wound up tight but it doesn't seem to want to go further down.
Is this normal? My gut tells me it should be seated a bit closer like on the blue one below.
Any suggestions? 🙂

When I first fitted mine (a while ago, I'm working from memory here), I think it tended to come apart when I pushed it over the steerer. Might be worth assembling it without the steerer to check the clearances.
