I've been looking at carbon CX frames on aliexpress.com and I've found one that I'm pretty interested in but has anyone actually got experience of using aliexpress (ideally for buying bikes) and if so, how did you pay? Credit card? Any issues?
Some googling seems to suggest that it's typically ok though you can obviously get rogue sellers thogh credit card should be some protection.
I realise that it's essentially a bit like ebay but the site claims that the seller only gets paid when you confirm delivery and you get a refund if it doesn't arrive in 60 days.
Looking at somewhere like velobuild.com and getting a feel for the reputation of various sources is not a bad plan, even if you end up buying via alibaba/aliexpress. But you may also find you can get what you want in the velobuild mall.
Thanks for the heads up on velobuild - interesting to get some feedback there.
roadbikereview.com also has some epic sized threads on experiences with chinese frames. But VB should give a reasonable feel for good suppliers.
I got a road frame from HongFu but it took an age. DengFu seem to be one of the better options.
