Few folk on here have got hardtails & are happy with them (I don't think we've heard from anybody who was mangled by one failing)

I'm tempted, but don't want to be responsible for my kid loosing his teeth.
I built up a very lightweight hardtail for my daughter as an AliExpress project.
Frame was OG Evkin. Carbon layup seems OK. Bottom bracket tolerances good. Brake mount would probably have benefited from better facing.
Wheels from Xiamen A-One. Built straight, even spoke tension, still round.
Cassette ZTTO 11 speed 11-50, rainbow, again super light. I don’t know if it would stand up to a heavy duty adult, but seems OK so far for a lightweight rider.
Shifters and mech were from Sensah. These were the only real let-down. I swapped them out for Shimano SLX.

Would love to do the same for my daughters but I’m absolutely useless with anything mechanical. Pumping tyres up is about as hands on as I get.
I don’t think I do anything dangerous enough to break a bike, even a cheap one.
I think it's a question of going through reputable manufacturers who might make stuff for the big brands. Apparently lightcarbon are good but I bought a random stem off eBay once and it was useless - really flexy just under normal riding.
Most of the factories are setup to deal B2B.
Ican are well respected in the fat bike world.
Had several forks, an areo road bar (which was great for the price) and wheels. But not a frame.
Had a frame from fly xii 8 years back, was great never a problem, sold it 5 years later on ebay for the price I paid for it new direct!
