Anyone know if it's rideable at the minute? Just all the talk about diggers and such! Looking to go tomorrow.

A friend of mine went today, all rideable as far as i'm aware and pretty dry considering the weather we have had with only a few wet bits!

I am local to say (Northampton). So all i can say, is that if you want to go for a ride and it pissing it down, snowing and everywhere else is bogged down. Go to Chicksands. Its always grippy and the drainage is well done. So never a issue. (Part from making sure you clean your bike right after as the sand gets everywhere). So go and enjoy.

How does chick sands compare with somewhere like Aston hill?

I'm in North London so these are probably the closest two to me

It totally depends what type of riding you want to do, ie. if you want actual downhill definately go to Aston. Chicksands has lots of variety (dirt jumps, 4x, dual slalom, couple of single track lines, couple of downhill lines, pump track).

When I used to drive out from North London I generally went to Woburn as that fitted more the type of riding I wanted to do (jumpy, swoopy XC + a sprinkling of DH-lite in the bike park area).

If you want more info on Chicksands the website is here;

http://www.chicksandsbikepark.co.uk

The following additions are apparently coming in the next two weeks;

"Beginner progressive Jump area
Beginner Progressive drop area
New Pump track
Mini Bmx track
Flow line extension
Mini Xc loop
Extensions on the dirt Jumps
Changes to Dual and 4x
Progressive step down
Trick step up"

Thanks, hadn't thought of Woburn either

I'll try all at some point, Woburn might need more research before I head there though as it's not a proper trail centre
