My faithful 10 year old XT cranks (Hollowtech 2) had there first fail yesterday. Non drive side started to come loose.

Got home OK but bottom bracket now sounds very rough. Will tighten up to get me through the week but it's time to replace.

Would love a Middleburn RS8 but way out of my budget at present.

Can any kind soul recommend any good deals at the moment?

What do you mean it's come loose? Nip the bolts up, buy a new BB for £15 and use those for 1x10...

The arm started to come away from the spline. Moved out about 1cm in all.

But the NDS isn't attached to the splines, or do you mean the insert in the crank arm?

If that, get an SLX chainset, flog rings.

Good call on the SLX, fits the bill nicely. Cheers

That's the odd thing. The end cap is still in place. I'm yet to inspect but thought that attached the the axel (is it an axel)to pull the crank in. Was puzzled to see it still there when I noticed it coming away.

Tootallpaul, think that's the ticket. Can sell the bottom bracket (I've a hope BB) and go NW and drop by chain guide, ace!.
