why cheap? are you looking to dip a toe in the 29er water to see if it's warm enough? if so sam from singular made a good point on here a few months back. something along the lines of people wanting to try a 29er get hold of a £400 bike only to be disappointed with heavy weight and slow handling compared to their £2000 26er! if you're testing the water, better to get a decent demo. imo.

Stu brings up a good point.I am just waiting for a frame as I have been sourcing parts bit by bit for my own one. I thought about getting a really cheap complete bike, but am going down the road of waiting for decent bits as I don't want to be put off by a lump. I have about the price of a new inbred frame to spend on a frame and that will take me up to the £550 mark, which is pretty decent imo.

Jamis do a cheap 29er. Not steel, though it'll get you started without having to faff about building your own.

Diamonback Mojito...if you can find one. Ally frame and cheap bits but I picked one up for £240 and I'm loving it. I know Rutland were knocking them out for £200 on eBay but I presume they're all gone.

Frankly my best purchase of last year!!
