Challenge Black Friday - some bargains
The best I've found are Bontrager GR1 Comps. About £17 per tyre all the time, decent enough tread for all year use in Scotland and, crucially for me, much more puncture resistant than more expensive, lighter tyres.
Depends how treaded you want, but CRC were doing WTB Nano for around £12 each recently.
Thanks everyone, I'll look at those.
They are to replace some very worn Schwalbe CX Comp so a little tread would be nice.
Not mega-cheap, but almost half price and excellent tyres:
Decathlon have their own Gravel Lite Folding tyre for £19.99 - perfectly good tyre and rolls well on tarmac. 38c, and currently fitted to my CX bike.
I've got sets of both Specialized Pathfinder Pros and Hutchinson Tundra gravel tires lightly used for less than £40 both times on eBay. Lots of people seem to buy gravel bikes and quickly realize they'll just use it as a road bike and switch tires it seems.
Are the Raddler better than the Riddler for puncture protection?
I had the Riddler on my bike from new in 2017 but they were unbelievable thorn magnets (not running tubeless.... Yes I'm a luddite)
Are the Raddler better than the Riddler for puncture protection?
Not used the Riddler yet (I have a cheap pair stashed to try when my Raddlers are worn out), but the Raddlers work great tubeless and I've only had one flat from a rock.
How cheap do you need? I have a set of 700x38c Vittoria Terreno Dry OEM wired you can have for nowt. I won't say they have zero miles, but less than 100. Super heavy at 740g each though which is why I changed them.
@midlifecrashes - thanks for the offer but I'm looking for something lighter
Anyone got suggestions for cheap 45mm X 700c, faster/slicker/track & road tyres on a decent deal at the moment?
30% off at panaracer right now. Only 43 but they do a slick and semi slick which I rate.
Managed to score both a pair of £12 Nano TCS and some £13 G-One all-round before the bargains vanished.
CRC want £40 for a Nano now, they were on discount for ages, I almost bought a second pair.
I'd just keep an eye out online at the normal sites, that might knock them down again, you never know...
