[#10119225]

So the set of Deore's I got for free for the Inbred SS cheap build have got the leaky caliper problem (start the ride squealing like a pig, braking ok-ish by the end of the ride, pop bike in garage to find that the next ride they're back to 'squeal like a pig')

Except today, no improvement by the end of the ride 🙄

So. Can I / Is it worth replacing the calipers?

Or just bin them for something cheap & cheerful?

What are new hydro Alivio / Acera's like? New Deore's? Clarke's? I'm really not fussed about fancy features and modulation on this bike (SS rigid = pretty low speeds!) .. but they do need to consistently slow the bike.

£40-50 a set ... What can I get for that?

Shimano calipers are a doddle to replace if that helps (based on a sample of one Ultegra caluper replacement compared to bleeding Formula/Hope/Avid)

Got the bleed kit if you are near Galashiels and need a hand

Happy Clarks M2 user here.

They're silly cheap, came fitted with hoses on the longer size (to accommodate bigger bikes I assume) and included spare olives for shortening the hoses...
