Tjagain - no problem, glad to be able to stop the bugging 😀

Oink1 - no worries, thankyou. Will definitely put some pics up once i have sorted it. Really looking forward to it.

Thegreatape - thankyou very much, although neither of us drink, so we may get a nice tea and coffee instead.

Ahsat - thankyou. Definitely not enough hours, could do with a 30 hour day and a 10 day week really.

Idlejon - haven't had a pm from you, my email address is hoodahell AT hotmail.co.uk if it would be easier. Next weekend is fine, thankyou very much.

Well, now then. I just found something ridiculous about STW! If you reply to a PM it sends a message to website@singletrack.. That's where your PM went gnusmas. (Website guys - ignore the picture of a pink and black kids bike. 🙄 )

I've sent it again - hopefully in vaguely the right direction.

Wow, only just noticed this thread. Like many others I overlooked it as a request for light recommendations.
Let me know if you fancy a spin as I'm only 20 minutes from Brechfa myself.

Thanks toofarwest, much appreciated.

Reason you and many others thought it was a light recommendation thread is because that's what it originally was.

Managed to escape without the little one while he was sleeping to go to the shop this afternoon.

I pumped the tyres up on my Norco and went the long way round. Might only be 6 miles or so but it felt great!

I look slightly psychotic in the photo but it is pure elation 😀

Gnusmas, another thing to add is that if you can get a train over to Swansea you've got plenty of trails to explore. It's about 15 minutes ride from the top of the dh trails to the railway station. 🙂

If you can make it on a Thursday night there's a weekly night ride in Clyne. Look at www.mtbpigs.co.uk I'm not often out lately but the guys are friendly and don't bite. (Just don't feed after midnight!)

On Facebook there's the Mynydd Du group which has plenty of riders in your area.

Wow - I haven't been in for a while and come back to find such STW at its best.

As has been offered several time before - if you need help with PIP appeals, more than happy to help.

I'm hoping you have it covered by now.

Once you have all the family sorted and on bikes you may want to consider a taster session with Experience Community CIC.

Such a brilliant organisation with a wealth of knowledge - but most importantly just great group rides that are a lot of fun. I recently joined them on a Peak District weekend trip

Not sure if Mrs Gnusmas was into mountain biking before - but now she knows how lovely we all are she might fancy it at some point 🙂

Have been watching this thread grow and grow. Its things like this that make me not so despaired for the future of the human race. Once pay day rolls around in a week and a bit I'll be topping up the total too.
Gnusmas- sounds daft but thankyou for the courage you showed in your OP, as reading this thread at work everyday is truly making my day, and as for the rest of you 'orrible lot its things like this that make me proud to be part of the biking community!

Idlejon - never thought about the train to Swansea, if i can at any point i definitely will, thanks.

Adjustablewench - that place looks great! Mrs G did briefly start mountain biking, this was her bike from about 6-7 years ago i built for her

https://flic.kr/p/8sbkf1

After about 3 months of really getting into it the problems started, so she had to stop.

Crazyjenkins01 - thankyou for your kind words. According to the crowdfunding page, today is the last day for donations. But thank you for considering it, really appreciate it.

Where abouts are you? Experience Community are doing trips in a wide variety of locations but their taster sessions tend to be in Yorkshire and Derbyshire at the moment.
Happy to keep you posted about other opportunities she may enjoy. I work supporting clients for a law firm - we try to get them linked up with organisations and engaging in various sports and activities.

We live in Carmarthen, West Wales. We don't have a car at present but maybe something for the future. Keeping us posted would be brilliant though if you don't mind. My email address is hoodahell AT hotmail.co.uk

OP, not got time to read back through the thread, but did you say your son was looking for a frame/bike?
I've got an old hard tail frame (21" seat tube but not that long a top tube) that I bought of here to build up for a mates son but he went off bikes. 🙄
It's nothing fancy but if it fits it's yours if you want it.

Thread of the year award.

It has been a proper emotional roller-coaster for me during this time, and before this thread. Dust clouds galore have been circling in the high points and low points, even at the simplest of things.

From what i have read it seems a lot of you have been experiencing feelings of some sort too. I hope this has been as heartwarming for all of you as it has been for me.

Thankyou all for helping me through all of this. From your kind words and gestures to the bit of comedy and banter, it has all been very helpful.

Granny_ring - will email you but possibly a bit too big. Thankyou.

Quick question, how do i post pics from flickr to appear in the thread? Could do it with photobucket before they went stoopid.

Pics on the thread will be much better than my previous links.

Right, sorry for my delay

The chair is a Pride Jazzy 1121

[img] [/img]

It's been sat unused in garage for probably 10 years. It'll need a battery and probably new tyres. I have no idea if it works at the moment, but if it's suitable we can look at that

Pimp my wheels, sure we can think of some upgrades for the chair. 😀 Hope that it works out.

Pair of A520 pedals if they're of any use; unused - fitted for a bike build and then removed. Think M520 but with larger platform.
Let me know - email in profile or post to this thread.

Every time i think the thread is done and dusted i get messages of support and help.

It is still unbelievable.

I am still extremely grateful to all of you. Thankyou each and everyone of you.

What a total!

I said to Junky the other day, i didn't expect it to reach the original of £200. After it did, i was gobsmacked, then it carried on climbing.

There have been times when it seemed to peak and each time i thought that was it, amazed everytime. Then it carried on again.

We are extremely grateful to you all, it is an amazing achievement.

I honestly wish i could personally thank all of you for your support, help and generosity. Money aside, you have done more than you could possibly imagine throughout all of this.

I will go through the thread again in the next day or so as i have probably missed messaging someone with all that has happened. If this is the case, my apologies to you. My email is in my profile if anyone wants or needs to get in touch.

Kudos, virtual hugs and high fives to each and every one of you.

I can honestly say i am proud to be a member of the STW family. It has been mentioned that an STW get together needs to happen. Maybe at some point this could be a possibility?

Can you imagine the arguments?
the singlespeeders would wander off muttering into their beards, the stormtoopers would sneer at the singlespeeders. The XC jeyboys would be getting off and walking over every kerb, the rad dudes would be lighting spliffs every five minutes, the racers would be doing laps before we even set off. I'd probably have an argument with a rock, Half of them would be late and the other half would get lost!

In all seriousness there has been a few over the years always good fun- why don't you set one up when you have a fully working bike again?

Matt - Carmarthen, about a 20 min drive from Brechfa. I am completely out of shape at the moment, lack of riding for a few years. It would definitely need to be more of a fun blat than an epic jaunt.

Tjagain - i loved your tale of how the meet would go. One question, why would you argue with a rock?

Will be getting my Stiffee out over the weekend and getting to work on it within the next week.

AFAIK Gnusmas is in Carmarthen, so not too far from Brechfa and Cwmrhayadr. Llanwrtyd Wells (of Real Ale Wobble fame) is close enough too. Elan Valley maybe? There are a few bothies within a generous hour's drive too. I'm more than happy to arrange/ co-ordinate things, let me know.

Loads of riding suitable for all. It is Wales after all.

One question, why would you argue with a rock?

It most likely has the wrong political views 😉 or likes lager or something completely wrong and IT WOULD HAVE TO BE TOLD

😆

A meet up based on this thread would be nice

They are always a good crack.

He would argue with it over helmets*

* I believe i have both ridden with and without a helmet in his presence without issue.

Metamorphic rock proves that change is possible - you just have to keep the pressure on...
