Another donation (and sneaky bump), hopefully those lights will turn up around now as well.

It's so close now, I'm sure we can get to 4 digits!

Funkmasterp, rob hughes, marinmcmarinface and toasty - thankyou very much for your donations.

Thankyou toasty, will keep an eye out and let tou know when received.

Oblongbob, thankyou for the offer. Will direct message you.

Hopefully, if mrs gnusmas is not in too much pain and up to it today we are going to a mobility centre just outside town. She can try out a few different chairs/scooters to get an idea of what she needs and what suits her.

Thankyou all again.

Fair play STW we are at £900 now

A great effort from all and it is good to see that we can pull together on here.

Good that the OP is now able to look for the wheelchair his wife and family need.

Hopefully we have gone little way to making your life a little easier.

Me and the OP are in contact and I will be paypalling him the money at some point - I think I need to let it run as never done this before - anyone have any advice feel free to drop me a PM on here .

Special thanks to Rocky mountain as it was their idea.

I am sure he will confirm it all once done and hopefully we get an update with a pic or two of an electric wheelchair

As one of my favourite quotes from mrs g's favourite film goes,

**** me, **** me sideways! 😯 😯

2POC,bensongd thankyou so much for your donations.

Looking back i didn't acknowledge rocky mountain for initially suggesting it, a massive thankyou to you. And again to Junky for doing it and making it all happen.

This place is truly remarkable.

Very mixed emotions here from both of us.

Just to let you know, after our argument things are looking better. We are actually talking properly and discussing things, it is a wonderful feeling again.

Just read the OP but not all the other posts - just a thought but have you tried sending the Exposure light back to them for repair? They might do it for free.

Newrobdob - i have been in contact with exposure a couple of months ago, they said according to my description of what's going on with it they would want £55 to repair it plus postage costs both ways.

Slight update for you all.

Someone i say hello to occasionally at the school, but is a friend of a friend, has lent us an electric wheelchair for a week. It is his mothers chair, but they are all going away to visit their family in north wales. He told us it might give us an idea if this is the type of chair we need before we buy anything.

Mrs gnusmas has been out yesterday for a spin in it into town. Very nervous and worried while using it but within 30 mins or so was slowly getting used to it. After we got home, despite the pain and exhaustion she was happy to be able to move around by herself in town.

This is the chair we have borrowed:
www.wheelfreedom.com/products/invacare-pronto-m41-powerchair/

I think after 1 spin, this confirms that this is definitely the way to go. We are planning on going across town this week to a mobility centre to have a look and hopefully try out a few different chairs/scooters so we have a definite idea of what we need to get.

Thankyou all so much for making this happen.

gnusmas - Have you thought about starting the process of seeing if your wife can claim PIP? I'd have thought she deserves some help if anyone does 🙂

Oink1 - we have put a claim in for PIP. We have had 3 appointments for a face to face consultation and each time they haven't shown up. Waiting for a 4th appointment now.

I asked on the phone how long it takes for a decision after this appointment, they said it can take up to 8 weeks!

It's been a week so another update of sorts for you.

My wife has used the borrowed wheelchair a few times this week going places we would normally go. It is due to be picked up tonight/tomorrow morning. As mentioned previously this confirms that this is most definitely the way to go. She has had freedom to go around by herself and has been in less pain with the extra comfort the electric wheelchair gives.

We went to the mobility centre in the week but it was shut as they were out doing deliveries. We will be going back in the week to have a look when they are in the store.

The total raised is unbelievable and this will be a huge dent in our purchase:

Again, a massive thankyou to you all for your support, generosity and for making it all happen. 9 days left to go so hopefully we will have a shortlist of chairs by then.

Less than a week to go now. We have looked at the range the mobility centre has and in their brochure, trying to work out a way to go again without all the kids so she can look again properly in a more relaxed environment.

Mrs gnusmas still struggling to comprehend the compassion shown on here. But very, very grateful.

How weird....I was only sat at work this afternoon wondering how you were all getting on & whether you were any further along with a solution for your Wife.

Thanks for the update! I hope you find the right chair for your Wife to be comfortable & more mobile.

gnusmas.
Why don't you put her on.I'm sure we would all love to hear from her.As has been said before that we do bicker quite a bit on here but when it comes to the crunch our motley crew seems to come good and pull out all the stops for a fellow biker who could do with a bit of help. 😀

SHAMELESS BUMP FOR THREAD!

Only just seen this thread.
Nearly cried.
Donated.

Last year after watching Sports Relief, my daughter decided to do a Triathlon (5km SUP, 10km bike, 5km run) to raise money for kids less well off than her. I posted on here and that night her just giving page was £200 better off. She raised £1600 in total. Other kids paddled, biked and ran with her and she got a sense of community spirit and achievement out of it. Thanks to those that donated for our little challenge. I digress...

For all the bickering and willy waving on this site, you've got to think that in general (and I guess this goes for 90% of the outside world) people are nice and would help where possible, even total strangers. There is no shame in asking for help.

I too have a fairly large parts bin so if you need any more bits (especially tyres for 26"!) let me know!

Guess what? It's nice to be nice.

Still can't believe this is happening!
This is unbelievable, thank you all a million times. Thank you all again, and thankyou for the most recent donations and the support you have shown, mrs gnusmas looks like she has been sitting in a dust cloud.

As far as parts go, as some are still asking, couple of things i need to finish off my Stiffee. Pedals (can't find my saints or my m530s), cassette and chain.

I was given a zee mech and shifter after a mate upgraded his bike. It is a short cage mech, struggling to find what the max size cassette i could fit on the rear but not that big according to shimano.

So if anyone has a 10 speed cassette and chain lying around that i could try (unless someone knows the answer for definite) i would be grateful. Either this or replace the whole lot for a setup that works is the only other option.

Thankyou all again, you are all fantastic 😀

(if anyone does have any Raceface atlas bars and stem knocking around it will save me hanging on til xmas 😆 )

I've got loads of pedals but you'll need to send your address ASAP if you're happy with a new pair of flats as I'm off on holiday tomorrow

There's my Grandads old electric wheelchair sat in my Nans garage, doing nowt apart from getting in the way and gathering cobwebs. I don't know what make or model it is, or even if it still works..... Next time I go over, I'll take pictures and note the details and post up on here. If it's of any use to you, you can have it. I'm in the Midlands and the chair is in Shropshire, so not too far, we can cross that bridge if we get to it

Like others I thought this thread was purely about lights so never checked it until I just read the starred thread at top of the page

Having had the crappest last 16 months of my life with depression and other bits, stw and friends I've made through biking have helped me out greatly..... I'll throw a few £ your way, sadly not as much as I'd like to, as you know sickness benefit doesn't go too far :0(

All the best to you all

This is great, over £1.5k raised and a family's life made easier. I have some pedals I can throw your way (they are bright green though) and a Bontrager bar and stem from a 2016 Trek Stache if you want them. Think the stem is 70mm and the bars are 760 or 780mm. Both in good nick.

PM me if you want them.
