[#11734405]

I'm thinking about N+1'ing my FlareMax with a cheap flatbar singlespeed monster cross for both quick town rides and local mild gravel.

29er hardtail frame, rigid fork, cheap disc brakes, singlespeed, etc.

One obvious solution is to get an old 29er hardtail from eBay and indeed there's a Charge Cooker frame on there. But I have a spare set of 29er wheels in the garage that are Boost, so the chances of finding a cheap Boost frame are low.

So, what do people think:
1) spend more on a Boost frame (maybe even a Chinese carbon frame/fork from ebay!)
2) cheap frame, find some cheap wheels too

‘Flat bar monstercross’ ?

Sounds like want a rigid 29er SS instead? 😉

Just thinking about singlespeeding my Longitude. Not light or fast tho. Not boost either.

Look for a Cannondale Trail SL 29er (singlespeed?)

See what you mean about the wheels. Might be easier/cheaper to flog wheels and put towards buying a used bike as a base

Would a Boardman hybrid do it?

Also some hybrids have hub gears so potentially easy SS conversion.

There was a large Scandal frame advertised on the classifieds yesterday, assume that'd be boost.

Yes, the Scandal was intersting, as I can reuse my wheels. But where to find a cheap rigid fork with the same axle-crown as a 120mm 29er? That's an a-c of 530mm.
