I still have some Juicy 3's on a bike otherwise decked out with Hope and bling. Also once a silly bargain. Ugly, but just simple and decent/ghetto.

Always wanted to try the Saint. Not on the hard tail though. Yeah Shimano are very stylish looking, techy. Like the heat sink thing and chrome look..

the deores on my old commuter are ... 11 ? years old, they've been used in the MegAvalanche (twice) and they're still very very good.

actually, i tell a lie, the 11 year old front brake has been called back into service on my hardtail (after a crash ruined a brake lever), it's every bit as good as my new slx stuff, it was even easy to bleed.

Agree about the brakes being great but aren't the levers a little short to work well with Gripshift ?

no I adjusted the reach of the lever and they seem spot on for 1 finger stuff.

also the grips have been cut down too maybe 90mmish

the hope are lovely and obviously very well made (I can really feel the condition on the brake pads through the hope levers) but bang for buck I dont think the Deore can be touched (I think I paid around £40 each from CRC

Shh you're not supposed to let everyone know, otherwise us people on a tight budget will not even able to afford then either 🙂

The shimano brakes I've had are great for the money but they are bordering on disposable, in a pastime that has a high chance of tumbles and crashes repairable parts are a godsend

I find they lack initial bite and feel but for the money brilliant
