So, the likes of Bolany, LUTU etc on ebay, will they kill me or my OH? I know I can't expect them to be much cop at the price but has anyone tried them and what did they think?
Jordon Boostmaster on youtube rode with some kids with fake Fox 40 chinese copies
iirc they barely lasted 1 whistler run
@tdog Cheers! will look at that. To be honest it's only to go on a cheap hardtail I'm building up that will probably only be used on fire roads etc. But would be good to know if they could also handle a bit of light gnar...if there is such a thing.
Id say its like anything bike related from china, probably some half decent stuff and a whole lot of garbage as well. The ZTTO uding range looks decent (have had success with ztto stuff before), and theres a carbon rs1 copy that looks alright and gets decent reviews. Havnt spotted any >120mm stuff though.
You can get cheap manitous on aliexpress, they are genuine and pretty decent
I wouldn't trust cheap Chinese forks (the first you know about how bad they are might be a faceplant) Personally I would go cheaper end named forks from merlin/crc or other known retailer
Cheers folks. Yeah, I have found those now on Aliexpress. The Manitous and the ZTTOs. The frame geo is designed around 140 forks on 27.5 wheels but I will be using an old 26" wheelset. Bizzarly, they make a 120mm 29er fork with 100mm qr which I think might keep the geo somewhere about right.
Usual answers from to "do you have dental insurance?" to probably some ok stuff.
My question would be: can you get spares?
X-Fusion probs worth a punt if budget will suit
Are they Rick Shix or Fux forks ?

I'd guess they're just copies of existing designs, so wiper seals etc should be the same - just a matter of figuring out same as what....
Seals etc. will probably be some standard things so should be findable once you know the size. I'm more concerned to know if any one has had some castrophic failure with them, such a snapping.

While that probably is the most important point, the performance of the fork has to be somewhere up there, doesn't it?
If not, then you might as well buy some cheap Suntour forks from somewhere like Decathlon (<£100). At least then you'll have some confidence that they aren't going to catastrophically fail and you have a warranty/guarantee with them that you'll actually be able to use.
If performance isn't really important, then it might be better just looking at a set of rigid carbon forks like the Carbon Cycles Exotic forks for around £100?
@stumpy01 cheers for that! Didn't even know decathlon had those at that price. I would of course prefer to go with used quality forks but the current market seems to have everything at silly prices for my budget.

The postage from New Zealand will be pricey...
Pedals in Edinburgh made a post about ebay forks a couple months ago
I’m not sure if they’ve made the video they mentioned but the photos alone shows the quality control might be a bit questionable 😬
