If I bought a set of Hope Hoops, and then wished to change out a few spokes on each wheel to a different colour, can this be done? Or will the wheel implode upon itself and all hell will break loose.

it's not ideal but it'll be fine in practice.
make sure you do them 1 at a time.
you need to get the right length.
