I'm after a downhill bike for playing around on, it won't be my usual weapon but will be used on the odd day over the downhill tracks,, having never had one before and having a tiny budget of sub £600 for a full bike - it looks like there is a fair bit of choice but what would be a good bike to go for, any recommendations? IV always been drawn to the Orange 222,223,224,, I'm 6ft 2 so would need something large-ish

Older Giant Glory seem to fit the bill.

My old Stinky came in below that, 2008 so a bit old tech but works well enough and just about climbs well enough to ride to the top (slowly)

have a look on pinkbike too. Beware of thrashed ones though. Try and get an older one one that has not seen much action. Not sure I'd recommend 26 inch though as I am not sure about getting tyres. Hopefully someone can comment on this.

Still riding a 26 DH. Got my last set of tyres ok. Doesn’t get used enough to wear them out.

I had a Specialized Status 2 until recently, I reckon you could pick one of those up second hand for a decent price. Very capable as far as I was concerned and did uplift days as well as alps trips with it and so long as it was all gravity assisted it was great. Bit of a pig to pedal though.
