[#1947682]

Finally got a ss specific frame (my first horiz drop out job, Kinesis Versa which looks rather lovely) - do I need a chain tug or is tensioning the chain by just pulling the wheel out enough? Should I get a bolt through axle rather than a QR?

Ta!

you'll likely need chaintugs if you use a QR, but not essential if you use proper bolt up

Fit one on the drive side only to prevent the wheel pulling in under tension. Essential for Q/R set up but also needed on my bolt up.

I prefer to use chain tugs with QR or bolts, its just so much easier.

Sounds like a consensus, cheers folks ๐Ÿ™‚

I take it this also makes getting the back wheel out a bit easier for flats?

No, a chain tug makes it slightly more complicated as you have to undo it first. But that's it really. If you get one you can do with your fingers, and have QR, its easy and tool free.

Had no problems since binning QR and switching to bolts.

Leave the chain-tug on the drive side as a bit of insurance, never budges.
