i am buying a lizard skin for my rockhopper i have measured the circumference of my chainstay and it is 100mm. the lizard skins come in widths of 75mm, 85mm, and 128 mm. bearing in mind that they are made of neoprene and stretch can anyone please tell me which width i need. cheers!

get the smaller one you can always not overlap the velcro as much at the 'fat' end of the stay. I tend to use a zip tie at each end and one int he middle too with chain stay protectors to stop them sliding along the stay towards the narrow end when your heels rub.

Are you sure the measurements relate to circumference? More likely to be length I would have thought.

Self amalgamating tape or an inner tube are a better solution IMO.

Spesh used to make custom chainstay protectors for each of their frames which were pretty good. Maybe they still do.

failing that you could buy a length of bar tape from crc at 4 quid which if applied correctly will fit perfectly and looks good too.
that's what i did.

and you get two lengths which does two frames and leaves some spare
