My drivetrain finally expired at the weekend so looking at options for a replacement. Looking to go from a triple SLX chainset to a double but the more I look the more options there are.
Think I've decided on 38/24 and 11-36, would I need to replace the rear mech too. Currently running a long cage XT.
Is it worth fitting a bashguard? If so, any recommendations what would work with the SLX chainset?

I've gone from a triple to a double, 38/24 and 11-36. Really like it and it gives me everything I need. It did take a little bit of getting used to but now i love it.
Haven't missed the big ring. It is possible to spin out but I only find that on road sections getting to the good bits.
I didn't change the rear mech, still use a long cage. Never felt the need for a bash but do have a chain guide. Depends on what you need I guess. I may have shortened the chain a little but can't remember.
