I'll be looking to replace mine shortly, but i want something a bit more robust as i'm always snapping my chain every now and then and it's starting to get on my nerves a little, so just looking for recommendations on what would serve me better than the SRAM pg970/990 pc971 that i have used in the past? dunno if it's just me but i feel these chains are made out of butter! Also one other question, would i have to change my front chain rings aswell?

any advice appreciated, thanks.

I use KMC's X9.93 chains, they're cheap and rock solid... More expensive chains quite often have weight reduction going on, slots and machined plates and such, so getting a middle-of-the-road, decent quality chain can work out better. The rust resistance is sometimes lower, but that's OK, it shouldn't be an issue in a well cared for chain and the low price means you don't need to scrape every mile out of them (which also means your cassettes and rings will last longer too)

But everyone's got their favourites, someone'll recommend a connex in a second.
