[Closed] Chainring for SRAM 2x10

I believe your LBS are talking pap, SRAM specific bcd is 120, but other manufacturers produce rings that are 120bcd too. Also some SRAM chainsets come with the more standard 104 bcd (ala shimano). Your current chainrings will be marked with one of these two figure, take a look & then search for rings with the required bcd.

Not sure what cranks you have but I have just replaced my chain ring on a SRAM 2x10 and tried to save someone's and bought an XT ring - didn't fit - then an FSA - didn't fit. Finally gave up and bought the SRAM / truvativ ones off eBay. Bike discount.de listed them but were out of stock.

Just seen zippy's reply - my chainring was a 104 BCD and the issue was the crank spider was a touch too big for the rings.

Just balance Tex's post, I've just fitted a SRAM S1400 crankset to my bike & as it was a 104bcd, replaced the SRAM rings with shimano ones of the setup I wanted (24/36) & though I had to adjust the inner tabs of the rings (file em down) this is no more than I'd expect to do with a shimano chainset (xt chainset & Deore rings). Though Tex's post did make me realise I'd missed mentioning this 'step'

Yep those SRAM chain sets are buggers to get rings for. Technically Shimano chainrings don't fit. The BCD is the same but the shape of the crank arm isn't. I managed to file a Shimano one down to fit though, but that's not something I'd do professionally (I'm an LBS mechanic) as it's really not right and would take a fair bit of time to achieve.
TBH this is the main reason I'd avoid sram chain sets. I only use shimano personally.

It's a SRAM S1000 crankset

Sounds like the same crank set i have,came on my Giant reign,bit of a bugger as i wanted to put bash guard on mine which i cant,would i be able to apply a shimano crank set with the sram mechs,chain etc??or would i need to swap everything over,shifters,cassette.mechs too

Provided you're swapping 2x10 with 2x10 chainset it shouldn't matter which one you use.

So straight swap over with Sram 2x10 cranks to Shimano 2x10 cranks and keep Sram mechs and shifters??

Yep, assuming you have the matching Shimano bottom bracket.

Shimano carnks won't fit SRAM GXP bottom brackets but the cranks may well come with the correct one.

IIRC Shimano cranks come complete with a BB.

I have Race Face and Shimano cranks.

Every ring I have bought fits the Shimano ones. The RF ones are a bit of a lottery.
