I have just bought a new set of cranks. I think I can fit them myself but the instructions mention the nominal chainline. Can anyone tell me how you know when the chainline is right? I am not sure that the old one was correct so although I am going to use it as a starting point I am not convinced that this set it up correctly.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

just make sure you place the spacers on correctly; depending on 68mm or 73mm Bottom bracket width.
