ok my 456 always gets chain suck and after every part of the drive train has been replaced i think i need something physical to stop it any ideas?
There aere quiet a few anti-chainsuck devices out there worth looking into.
Or
Take it to someone who knows what they are doing.
NOT a k-edge. The chainstays are too thick for it to fit properly... ๐
For me it came down to lube- plain and simply running dry on longer rides combined with a worn granny ring. Try carrying a small top up lube with you and reapply as soon as suck starts. It cured it for a while but the only real true cure was the new granny ring.
i have a new chain cassett and chain rings first ride few puddles but nothing really bad and 30 mins in and chain suck,
seen this think it will work http://markscyclerepairs.com/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=136
or ive a chain device im going to alter by having a loop of metal over the roller so the chain cant pull up
My summer season suffered. No idea why. Sold it, bought a 456ti, put a new chainset on, never had it since.
What chainrings? Some are worse than others.
slx that came with new crank, its a double, luke mines a summer season but no idea how it could be frame but one ride on brand new rings and chain im at a loss. only in certain gears up hill
Sounds really odd. Have you compared it to another bike with SLX set up to make sure the chain line is reasonable? Other than is the chain a bit too long so not enough tension in small ring or even the wrong chain (8/9/10)? SLX is good stuff and runs faultlessly for me.
Usually I'd suggest an SLX or Deore chainset as a solution. Try a different brand of chain maybe?
ill check chain line but seems fine, chain is brand new 9 speed, chain is tight any more links out and it would struggle to get in top cog,
its only loosley sucking then almost just sitting on chain stay
its a kmc chain
Mine was a swine for it, tried two different chain sets, one XT & an FSA, Shimano & KMC chains & none of it made any difference. Eventually wore through the chainstay.
Welded up the hole & carried on riding it. It's a cheap frame, so not really surprised they have their problems.
Get it on my 456 drive train is in good nick.....iv give up on it now so wrapped my chain stay in old inner tube to reduce the damage.
Will swap the chainset when I get some spare cash. I'm running SRAM x9 and chain.
seems a common problem, bikes get scratched so not worried about the scratches just ruins momentum up hill and is bloody anoying
