If it was OK on a 34 front 10 speed 36 rear is it still ok with an 11 speed 42 rear?
It now sounds like when you forgot to change from big ring to middle .
I'm going to fit a 32 front will that make it any worse?

I presume your crank is a double. I don't see any reason why a smaller chairing would help. You could try some chairing spacers to move it in a bit. I used some 3.5mm ones, only issue then is buying longer chairing bolts which were annoyingly expensive. But it did the job and certainly cheaper than new cranks!

Single ring and as I say it all sounded fine before I went big.
