Hi All
I'm changing my drivetrain to be a 1x9 but I'm a bit unsure as to how long/short to make the chain. I have an xtr longcage rear mech. Any pointers as to what position the mech should be in when in top & bottom gears would be of great help.
Dont want to chop my spanking new chain too short!!

thread the chain round the chain ring at the front and the largest sprocket at the back (dont thread through mech) hold the chain tight and add two chain links. This should be the correct length. If you do cut too short you can always make the length back up with power links...

Short cage rear mech is a good idea as well.

so would that have the rear mech pointing pretty much forward in lowest gear?
